Hi, I am Romy

Warm, evidence-informed counselling

My journey to becoming a clinical counsellor began in the classroom. As a teacher and curriculum content creator, I witnessed the transformative power of supportive relationships. I saw students thrive when they felt understood, encouraged, and equipped with the right tools to navigate challenges. Those experiences inspired me to become a counsellor, where I continue to believe that growth happens through meaningful connection and practical, evidence-based strategies.

Today, I offer warm, evidence-informed counselling for youth, young adults, couples, and families. My approach is collaborative, down-to-earth, and tailored to your unique needs. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, or life’s many transitions, I’ll meet you where you are and help you build the insight and skills needed for meaningful, lasting change.

I value creativity and believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. I welcome humour into the counselling room, while also making space for life’s hardest moments. My hope is that you feel comfortable bringing your authentic self to our work together. No thought, feeling, or experience is too strange or difficult to explore with curiosity and compassion.

Above all, I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental, and confidential space where you feel understood, supported, and empowered to move toward the life you want.

Who I Help

You might be a good fit if you’re feeling:
*Overwhelmed or anxious
*Stuck or unsure how to move forward
*Disconnected in your relationship
*Struggling to support your child or teen
*Navigating a major life transition

My Approach

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach.
I tailor each session to your pace, preferences, and goals.

I integrate:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for practical tools
  • Trauma-informed care for safety and understanding
  • Self-compassion approaches to reduce self-criticism
  • Gottman Method & Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples

Together, we focus on what will be most helpful for you.

What to Expect

Your first session:

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what’s brought you here, what you’d like support with, and what your goals are. There’s no pressure to share everything at once – we go at your pace.

Ongoing sessions:

Sessions are collaborative and adapted to your needs. Some sessions may focus on practical tools, while others allow space for reflection and deeper understanding.
